George Bishop 1st Bn 1946
- ?
(11/07)
|
From
a Mrs Debra Bishop:
I would like you to pass on my e-mail address Homdebra@aol.com to any former
guards that new my late father-in-law, George Bishop, who died
early this year. All I know about his army career is that he
was a champion boxer for his regiment and that he served in Windsor.Germany
and Malaya I think he was 1st Bn and his number was 2629014,
he was from Aldershot, and he joined up in 1946, I have e-mailed
the Guards Museum and his RHQ, for any information about him
eg any photos of him in the ring, newspaper stories thing like
that, but I just wondered if anybody remembered him and had anything
about him. I'm doing this for my Mother-in-law for a kind of
"this is your life book" about George, also I'm sure
my husband, who was very close to his dad would like to know
as well. |

1935 to the War end - 1st
and 2nd Bns
(08/07)
|
Going
back so way with this one, in fact to 1935 until the end of the
war. A long shot but does anyone out there remember Sgt Thomas
Alexander Thompson (2614687) who was in the 1st and then the
2nd Battalions. He was in Lower Normandy and took part in Operation
Goodwood. Any of you older members who might remember him and
wonder of wonders have a photograph of him standing beside a
tank or something ?? He is no longer with us having passed away
in 1991 but his daughter is looking for details about her father's
service etc. As she says in her email to me how much she wished
she could turn the clock back so that she could have asked more
questions of her father and about his war. Should there be the
slightest chance with this one would you let her know - Mrs Averil
Styles and he email address is arstyles@hotmail.co.uk

this summer?
(05/07)
|
A
bit of a longshot this one but if anyone might be visiting the
Thiepval Memorial in France perhaps they will be kind enough
to take a photograph of the name of L/Cpl Arthur Reginald HOSKINS
(17290) a Grenadier who was killed on 12th September 1916 age
25. His name appears on Pier/Face 8D. IF this happens the next
step would be to inform Ian Dixon, a former RMP, who is the nephew
of A R Hoskins. Ian Dixon can be contacted at redcap70@optusnet.com.au
